Los actores españoles Penélope Cruz y Antonio Banderas son los protagonistas de la coproducción española “Competencia oficial”, dirigida por los argentinos Mariano Cohn y Gastón Duprat, que fue seleccionada, hoy, al Festival de Cine de Toronto, uno de los más prestigiosos del mundo.
La película se presenta en la muestra canadiense como "estreno norteamericano", por lo que es casi seguro que antes tendrá su première mundial en el Festival de Venecia.
La 46ª edición de Toronto (9 al 18 de septiembre) anunció nuevas películas, que incluyen varias ya vistas en la Berlinale y Cannes, otras que estarán antes en Venecia (1º al 11 de septiembre) y después en San Sebastián (17 al 25 de septiembre).
